Eight lives left

I’ve watched this SMIDSY six times. I still have no words. Apart from the thought that the driver needs to lose her licence on the spot for ten years.

With that sort of video evidence, maybe she will.

    But I doubt it.

    Bloody scary video though.

  2. IanB says:

Erm, the driver is a man? Clearly.

Just goes ot show, even with video evidence people can get it wrong and see what they want to see “stupid woman should lose her licence” when, in fact, she is the innocent passenger.

Ah. An easy mistake to make. The man is seated in the rear passenger seat behind the driver (offside). The woman is the driver. Immediately after the impact we can clearly see the woman comforting the child who is the passenger in the front passenger seat. The man exits the vehicle from the rear offside door.

Ah yes, so he does. I can’t be the only one to think that since he’s now annotated the video. I paused the frames and you can see.

Luckily I am not the black-capped judge eh? ;)

Clearly, look once, look twice, think bike does not occur to everyone. When I was knocked off my motorbike it was by a truck driver who decided to overtake me as we were heading into a bend on a country road (just outside Southam). He apparently realized too late that the reason I was going slower than he liked was because it was a blind bend with two farm entrances either side and piles of crap all over the road. He pulled in sharpish…forgetting that his truck was not a Fiat Panda and the rear wheels took my bike from under me and left me skidding down the road unconscious at 40mph. At least that’s what I’m told happened because a) I didn’t wake up for 15 minutes and b) he had driven off leaving a guy coming in the opposite direction to slam on his brakes to avoid running over my prone crumpled body. They never found the truck driver despite the witness. Still, six months later I was finally able to bend my right leg again and I can horrify people with my gruesome gravel rash and “that’s where I lost part of my knee” scars so it all ended well. :P
