Wish you were here…?

On Saturday 21st June I marshalled a fundraising motorbike ride for the charity Meningitis Now (formerly the Meningitis Trust and Meningitis UK).

There were about 30 of us on the ride.

We toured across Warwickshire in to south Leicestershire, stopping at various places, that included Market Harborough, and Melton Mowbray, for street collections.

It wasn’t really chugging. We just asked people if they would like a balloon and a sticker. Children were asked if they’d like to sit on one of the many bikes for a photo. The Daytona was a favourite for that.

We also stopped at a few pubs, to exchange full collecting tins with empty ones.

It was a lovely day; the weather was brilliant, the roads seemed relatively uncluttered with fools, and there were no serious incidents.

We don’t yet know how much we raised, but the tins we returned to base seemed full; the generosity of people sometimes astounds me.

Today I am on the 9th Floor of a very large building, doing important work for a very large organisation.

And I’m wishing it was Saturday again, because that was a better day.
