Sunday, brilliant Sunday

Up early because of the time difference; Tea and toast were taken back to bed and the Melbourne Grand Prix was (mostly) watched.

Dozeage may have occurred.

Ablutions and a second breakfast were satisfactorily completed, a trip to Gatcombe Horse Trials followed.

Hot chocolate was partaken, a brisk walk around the mile-and-a-quarter Intermediate cross-country course followed.

A fried egg bap with lashings of brown sauce may have occurred.

Another hot chocolate and a chocolate fudge brownie vanished from one of the trade stands.

Show-jumping was watched from the ring-side seat of the car.

Satisfied, slightly tired and a little drowsy we headed home where I changed and made for the yard.

Tom was quickly groomed, tacked up and heading up the track where we rode the gallops twice.

While Tom cooled off I had a brief chat with Sammi to plan our erm, plan of action (cross-country tomorrow, schooling Tuesday and Wednesday, show-jumping at Cooksons on Thursday, schooling Friday and Saturday, show-jumping at Allenshill on Sunday, cross-country on Monday).

Groomed Tom, rugged him up and let him have tea.

Home.

The evening stretches before us with perhaps a film or a couple of episodes of Buffy and a bite to eat on the menu.

Brilliant.

  1. Ummmm. don’t you just love it when a Sunday turns out to be top banana like that? Disclaimer: except for the brown sauce on the fried egg sandwich – what were you thinking?! Good job it wasn’t Red sauce, that would have annihilated your street cred.

P.S. I forgot to tell you that I finally got the bit on your podcast which explained your 3am antics…… singing along on Skype….. you pair of numpties! Very funny though! Just one question, if you want to Skype people live on air, don’t the listeners need to know when you are recording the programme?

By the way, you have played some absolutely cracking music the last two weeks. ….. it’s made me want to download the album… but then I realise I can’t remember the name of the band! DOH

  2. Not a brown sauce fan, eh? It just sits nicely on a fried egg bap. Kind of a meat substitute in my eyes – as I don’t eat meat any longer.

Skype on the podcast: as a rule of thumb, we go in to the studio earlyish on a Friday evening, about 6.30pm. We do put out on Twitter when we’re gearing up for a show. This weekend was the first time we put the ‘live phone call’ in to practise – we called a cellphone in Oakland California and a Skype account in Wellington New Zealand whilst we were in the studio. You can hear the results in this weekend’s show, but we both think the calls worked. We saw people were online and just took pot luck and called them.

For those who want to know the details about the music we play, I produce a detailed list of what music is played in each show, who the artists are and where their myspace can be found. We publish the details on the podcast website – http://thisrealitypodcast.com – and look under the episode or show number. Occasionally, when artists send us physical CDs instead of MP3s, we’ll give away their work. But Annie…. Thank you so much for saying the music is good. We only play work that we like – and you saying it’s good simply means that you have *excellent* taste.
