It is a bank holiday weekend and, as is usually the case in the UK when we have extra time off, the weather forecast promises to be particularly gruesome.
Even now, 10.30 Friday morning, the temp is 13c and it’s spotting with rain.
The thing is, these days, you can’t even count on the rain to be ‘good rain’; the kind of water that washes the car.
Bummer.
Today is the first full day of Badminton Horse Trials. The Powers That Be have jiggled the schedule around, so that this year the competition concludes on Monday – which, as I’ve said, is a holiday. So we might go.
Might.
Because, the thing is, if it’s pouring with rain, the temptation would be to stay in, eat lots of Pringles and watch wall-to-wall coverage of Badminton on the television.
But not tomorrow, obv, because Tom is doing a PreNervous/PreNovice/BE100 (whatever we’re calling it these days), with Sammi, at Broadway.
Number 277, Section ‘F’
Dressage: 15.04
Show-jumping: 16.59
Cross-country: 17.31
And the forecast for Saturday is? Yep, heavy rain showers. Still, at least it is heavy rain *showers*.
Sunday is cross-country day at Badminton. And the forecast is? Heavy rain. No showers involved, just rain and heavy rain at that.
Monday promises to be a brighter day though! (he said, brightly)
I’ve spent much of the last couple of days putting together emergency hosting and a quickly-done design for a website.
And now I’m trying to put together a playlist for this evening’s podcast, but I seem to be stymied by having too much musical choice.
Here’s another thing.
I put together and hosted a website for an independent parliamentary candidate.
You really wouldn’t believe the filth and the lies that people send in to a parliamentary candidate.
Why would they do this?

Good luck for this evening! Can we chat this weekend re: next week – I’m in the UK from Tuesday evening onwards so I’m thinking a conversation on Monday might work? Still no idea what I’m going to say!
Thanks for reminding me about Badmington – now I have the Beeb I can watch it on Sunday while hungover! Hoorah!
Eh up, give us some examples of filth and lies…. it was getting interesting!
Mooster; yep, a chat this weekend sounds good. We’ll be around in the evening – might be at Badminton during the day.
Annie; no, we’re crossing in to libel territory.
