Dydd Gŵyl Dewi Hapus

Roedd hi’n Ddydd Gwyl Dewi ddoe. Ac fel trît arbennig ges i wneud Pice ar y Maen! I’ll say that last bit again but in English this time. And as a special treat I was made Welsh Cakes!

Now this seems to be on the verge of becoming a tradition, or maybe it’s a St David’s Day tradition in the making in this house. Either way I approve. Wholeheartedly. But there is something to say about the 2023 Welsh Cakes, apart from them being very, very welcome, obviously.. My Good Lady Wife Her Indoors is not Welsh, this is true. However, this year’s Welsh Cakes were Nanatastic (and that’s the highest praise I can give).

On an unrelated note I need to apologise to the neighbours (sings: everybody needs good neighbours. Stops singing). I’m sorry about Pugsley running around the garden barking at 05.00 this morning. Or was it yesterday morning? I forget. But I do apologise. He had a mouse, you see. A real live dead mouse (if you know what I mean). And it was his first encounter with a real live dead mouse. So he was a bit excited. Hence the barking. So yeah, sorry about that. I’d offer you a Welsh Cake by way of apology except owing to an unforeseen hand/mouth incident in the kitchen all of the Welsh Cakes have disappeared. Sorry abou that too. Actually. no. Not sorry about that one at all.

  1. Lucky old you!
I wonder whether the current Mrs. Masher will make me some English cakes – whatever they might be – when St. George’s Day comes around.
