While I was sitting at one of Coventry\u2019s many sets of roadwork-related traffic lights, yesterday evening, I started thinking about taking some time off from work.<\/p>\n
Obviously, being self-employed, I\u2019m not keen on taking any kind of time off.<\/p>\n
Because I don\u2019t get paid for it.<\/p>\n
Holiday pay? Sick pay?<\/p>\n
Neither of those.<\/p>\n
But Easter is looming, and the combination of Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday means four days off.<\/p>\n
Wow, a four-day weekend.<\/p>\n
Then I started wondering what I could do with a four-day weekend.<\/p>\n
I soon realised that, bizarrely, four days away from work wasn\u2019t long enough to achieve anything that I had on my traffic light-induced list.<\/p>\n
Not comfortably.<\/p>\n
The lights changed to green.<\/p>\n
I drove on.<\/p>\n
Only to be held at the next set of road-work-inspired traffic lights.<\/p>\n
My brain returned to the subject of time off.<\/p>\n
If I added two days of (unpaid) annual leave to the bank holiday weekend, I would have six days to play with.<\/p>\n
Six days!<\/p>\n
Yay!<\/p>\n
That’s got to be long enough, right?<\/p>\n
Right.<\/p>\n
However, at the next set of traffic lights, I realised that if\u00a0I added\u00a0four days of annual leave to the bank holiday weekend, I would have\u00a0ten (TEN!) days off.<\/p>\n
And that\u2019s where I am right now.<\/p>\n
Sitting here, looking at one monitor that shows me different ways of applying four days of annual leave to the bank holiday weekend, so I end up with\u00a010 days off, while another monitor is displaying ferry timetables.<\/p>\n
And I\u2019m thinking.<\/p>\n
