{"id":10176,"date":"2014-06-23T13:02:24","date_gmt":"2014-06-23T12:02:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=10176"},"modified":"2014-06-23T13:02:24","modified_gmt":"2014-06-23T12:02:24","slug":"wish-you-were-here","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=10176","title":{"rendered":"Wish you were here&#8230;?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday 21st June I marshalled a fundraising motorbike ride for the charity <a title=\"Meningitis Now\" href=\"http:\/\/www.meningitisnow.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Meningitis Now<\/a> (formerly the Meningitis Trust and Meningitis UK).<\/p>\n<p>There were about 30 of us on the ride.<\/p>\n<p>We toured across Warwickshire in to south Leicestershire, stopping at various places, that included Market Harborough, and Melton Mowbray, for street collections.<\/p>\n<p>It wasn\u2019t really chugging. We just asked people if they would like a balloon and a sticker. Children were asked if they\u2019d like to sit on one of the many bikes for a photo. The Daytona was a favourite for that.<\/p>\n<p>We also stopped at a few pubs, to exchange full collecting tins with empty ones.<\/p>\n<p>It was a lovely day; the weather was brilliant, the roads seemed relatively uncluttered with fools, and there were no serious incidents.<\/p>\n<p>We don&#8217;t yet know how much we raised, but the tins we returned to base seemed full; the generosity of people sometimes astounds me.<\/p>\n<p>Today I am on the 9th Floor of a very large building, doing important work for a very large organisation.<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019m wishing it was Saturday again, because that was a better day.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On Saturday 21st June I marshalled a fundraising motorbike ride for the charity Meningitis Now (formerly the Meningitis Trust and Meningitis UK).
