Someone – don’t know who – was walking through the office\u00a0a couple of hours ago, when their phone rang.<\/p>\n
Like most mobile phones, it had a customised ringtone.<\/p>\n
I only heard the first five seconds, but I knew the tune so well.<\/p>\n
“Oh, that’s Ennio Morricone,” I said.<\/p>\n
“Umm. It’s Per Q…” I tailed off.<\/p>\n
Nope.<\/p>\n
Lost it.<\/p>\n
Jesus, I know it so well.<\/p>\n
Except I didn’t.<\/p>\n
I sat at my desk, a smidge of mayonnaise on the corner of my open mouth, while I desperately tried to recall the so well-known piece.<\/p>\n
Attractive, huh?<\/p>\n
I made ‘Umm, ah, erm’ noises for about five minutes.<\/p>\n
I googled Ennio Morricone and looked at a list of his work.<\/p>\n
But the full and proper name – the name I know that piece by – avoided my gaze with great dexterity.<\/p>\n
I\u00a0went up a floor and had\u00a0a meeting with the SO.<\/p>\n
I then had a quick chat with someone else about this weekend’s work activities.<\/p>\n
I came back down to my floor, unlocked my PC and as I pressed ‘enter’ to accept my password the memory returned.<\/p>\n
“That was ‘Per Qualche Dollaro In Pi\u00f9’!” I exclaimed aloud.<\/p>\n
To no-one in particular.<\/p>\n
And so it was.<\/p>\n
Funny how the human mind works, innit?<\/p>\n
