{"id":10889,"date":"2015-10-06T12:32:29","date_gmt":"2015-10-06T11:32:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=10889"},"modified":"2015-10-06T12:32:29","modified_gmt":"2015-10-06T11:32:29","slug":"uncle-sam-ownedpwnd-by-the-ecj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=10889","title":{"rendered":"Uncle Sam owned\/pwnd by the ECJ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having a keen interest in ownership of data, and considerable experience in datacentre and public- and private-cloud hosting, today&#8217;s ruling by the European Court of Justice was expected.<\/p>\n<p>The legal decision <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2015\/oct\/06\/us-digital-data-storage-systems-enable-state-interference-eu-court-rules\" target=\"_blank\">(that the &#8216;safe haven&#8217; concept provided by US-owned\/US-based corporations do not provide the consumer\/or the <em>in loco parentis<\/em> data owner sufficient protection from illegal access by a foreign government<\/a>) comes as absolutely no surprise.<\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how Facebook, Google (etc) react.
