{"id":11403,"date":"2016-05-31T08:35:29","date_gmt":"2016-05-31T07:35:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=11403"},"modified":"2016-06-02T10:14:10","modified_gmt":"2016-06-02T09:14:10","slug":"music-challenge-day-02016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=11403","title":{"rendered":"Music Challenge: Day 00\/2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It occurred to me, while I was driving to Birmingham for a meeting, recently (because let\u2019s face it, driving to Birmingham is a harrowing enough experience, so you&#8217;re going to fill your head with lots of randomly pleasant, music-related thoughts, right?), that there are a number of ways that this particular cat (challenge) could get skinned.<\/p>\n<p>I could, for example, choose to focus many of my responses to these daily challenges on my all-time favourite album, couldn&#8217;t I?<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s not the point, really, is it?<\/p>\n<p>As much as I would like to share the entire contents of &#8216;Now That&#8217;s What I Call Music #714 (The Vocal Synthesiser Wars)&#8217;, it goes against the spirit of this little challenge to be so narrowly focussed.<\/p>\n<p>Against the spirit?<\/p>\n<p>Well in that case, what is the spirit?<\/p>\n<p>For me, this is all about the goodness of music, balanced with a desire to breathe new life in to my blogging.<\/p>\n<p>On the music front, it&#8217;s about attempting to share Faithless&#8217; stunning track &#8216;Insomnia&#8217; can wring from me similar feelings to &#8216;You Don&#8217;t Know Me At All&#8217; by Don Henley.<\/p>\n<p>Two stunningly different musical works.<\/p>\n<p>And both evoke similar feelings as &#8216;Swords of a Thousand Men&#8217; by Tenpole Tudor.<\/p>\n<p>Or attempting to explain how &#8216;Erase\/Rewind&#8217; by The Cardigans can almost make me feel the same as &#8216;Irish Blood, English Heart&#8217; by Morrissey.<\/p>\n<p>Or trying to explain the depth of raw feeling that occurred the first time I heard Eminem&#8217;s &#8216;Stan&#8217;, that I had to pull over to the side of the road, because it was like an injected hit of musicaine straight in to my heart.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not so much about the similarities.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s about the differences, and how those differences can make me feel the same things.<\/p>\n<p>And to add the icing to the cake of musical goodness, this list will be compiled on separate days.<\/p>\n<p>This means that my moods are influencers on the list.<\/p>\n<p>The track that makes me laugh today might not be the track that made me laugh yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>And so on.<\/p>\n<p>So hi there!<\/p>\n<p>Welcome to my version of the 30-day music challenge.<\/p>\n<p>If nothing else, I hope you click on a link and listen to something, and that you (un\/expectedly) enjoy it.<\/p>\n<p>And if you are joining in this music blogging challenge, then let me know, so I can look at what moves you.<\/p>\n<p>OK?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/uptheworks.blogspot.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Dave&#8217;s joining in<\/a>!
