{"id":11491,"date":"2016-06-16T07:31:41","date_gmt":"2016-06-16T06:31:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=11491"},"modified":"2016-06-16T21:27:37","modified_gmt":"2016-06-16T20:27:37","slug":"music-challenge-day-162016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=11491","title":{"rendered":"Music Challenge: Day 16\/2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>A song from a favourite album<\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Luckily, the criteria is &#8216;a favourite album&#8217;, not &#8216;favourite album&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>So that lets Pink Floyd off again.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m a Genesis fan.<\/p>\n<p>But I&#8217;m also a Genesis snob.<\/p>\n<p>Genesis stopped being a top quality band the day Peter Gabriel left.<\/p>\n<p>August 1975, was a dark time in the world of prog rock.<\/p>\n<p>Peter Gabriel left Genesis, and my girlfriend was one year old.<\/p>\n<p>The two events are unrelated.<\/p>\n<p>But counting backwards, in the album chronology timeline, we have The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, Selling England by the Pound, Foxtrot, Nursery Cryme, Trespass, And the Word Was, and From Genesis to Revelation.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s the difficult fourth album that holds a special place in the most prog corner of my rock heart.<\/p>\n<p>Nursery Cryme felt as if Peter Gabriel assumed the creative driving seat, and helped turn Genesis in to something special.<\/p>\n<p>And this track, The Musical Box, is a wonderful example of brilliant bonkersness when underpinned by imaginative writing.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/69J6M-ay9Qw\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A song from a favourite album &nbsp; Luckily, the criteria is &#8216;a favourite album&#8217;, not &#8216;favourite album&#8217;.
