Home Alone<\/strong><br \/>\nNot a big fan of Macauly Culkin&#8217;s work?<\/p>\n<p>Me neither.<\/p>\n<p>But Home Alone successfully gets me over that hurdle, to the point where I can almost forget about how much I don&#8217;t like Mr Culkin in this role and, instead, get to feel comfortable with how\u00a0much I enjoy the film.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ll start with the family rushing around so much that they manage to leave one of their children at home.<\/p>\n<p>This is brilliant.<\/p>\n<p>Which of us haven&#8217;t wanted, secretly, to leave someone at home?<\/p>\n<p>Aha, I see you have!<\/p>\n<p>Me too.<\/p>\n<p>Home Alone mines a rich, slightly dark vein of slapstick, and yet it doesn&#8217;t stray too readily in to the territory of gloop.<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps that&#8217;s because of my dislike for Macauly Culkin?<\/p>\n<p>Whatever.<\/p>\n<p>The character Kevin isn&#8217;t a sociopath, as some have said.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s just a childish version of what I&#8217;d get up to, if I had the house to myseslf.<\/p>\n<p>And then the burglars enter the story.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CK2Btk6Ybm0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Number Five of my Top Five Christmas Films &nbsp; 5.
