{"id":123,"date":"2007-08-06T16:56:23","date_gmt":"2007-08-06T15:56:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=123"},"modified":"2007-08-07T04:20:11","modified_gmt":"2007-08-07T03:20:11","slug":"mercury-rising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=123","title":{"rendered":"Mercury rising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting story <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/sci\/tech\/6929668.stm\" title=\"BBC news item\">here<\/a> tells us\u00c2\u00a0that heatwaves are getting longer.<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t read the research and frankly I&#8217;m not very likely to because my reading pile gets bigger, my OU reading list remains scarily untouched and other things continue to pile on my plate.<\/p>\n<p>But&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I was interested by the section in the BBC&#8217;s report that refers\u00c2\u00a0to a historical lack of consistency in the way scientific instruments have been stored.<\/p>\n<p>A little like crime figures going up because recording and reporting mechanisms are getting better?<\/p>\n<p>Maybe, maybe not.<\/p>\n<p>But to the point.<\/p>\n<p>I shall soon reach a place where I need to take a minor\u00c2\u00a0break from blogging (see above re reading,\u00c2\u00a0coursework and add in some writing and 9-5ing, having a life and horses).<\/p>\n<p>Yet I want to see this continue, rather than stagnate.<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;m inviting applications to the post of visiting blog contributor\/guest blogger.<\/p>\n<p>If anyone&#8217;s interested, let me know.<\/p>\n<p>It would be a temporary arrangement &#8211; just while I get my competing priorities sorted.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks!<\/p>\n<p><em>B<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An interesting story here tells us\u00c2\u00a0that heatwaves are getting longer.
