{"id":13030,"date":"2020-02-10T13:21:38","date_gmt":"2020-02-10T13:21:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=13030"},"modified":"2020-02-10T13:21:38","modified_gmt":"2020-02-10T13:21:38","slug":"blogathon-10-20-not-getting-to-work-or-home-again","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=13030","title":{"rendered":"Blogathon 10\/20: Not getting to work (or home again)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The city of Nottingham has the River Trent (plus a couple of <s>carnals<\/s> canals) running through it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s no Venice, but the Trent is very deep, fast-running, and very wide; it does give Nottingham a bit of character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the moment it&#8217;s a bit of character a lot of people could do without.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are three bridges that span the Trent; one pretty far out of town, well to the West, another in the opposite direction, to the East. Southbound traffic has to find a different route across the Trent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that has meant that getting in to work in the mornings has taken up to two hours (instead of 20 minutes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Getting home in the evenings has taken up to fourteen weeks (instead of 20 minutes).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, not really with the fourteen weeks; it has just seemed like it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apparently it&#8217;s too expensive to put another bridge over the Trent, so there&#8217;s that.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The city of Nottingham has the River Trent (plus a couple of carnals canals) running through it.
