In an endeavour to support mankind’s continual goal to break new ground, push back the barriers, to experience strange new things, to boldly go where no split infinitive has gone before, we have put ourselves at the forefront of yet another cutting edge experience, and did it in the name of science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have used the caravan. In anger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the last three days\/two nights we (‘we’ being 4x humans, and 2x spaniels) have been bivouaced (yes, it is a word) in a sort of a field in the middle of nowhere, near Collingham, Newark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We deliberately chose somewhere fairly local, as it was our first trip. We reckoned our first trip out would be something of a learning experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It actually was something of a learning experience. But not in a bad way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Water management, sleeping preferences and housekeeping were the major topics. And we discovered a couple of minor niggles with the caravan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first is being addressed with the delivery of a much larger aquaroll tomorrow. The second and third items were addressed on our second day\/night out, and the niggles will be put on the action list after a call to our caravan engineer tomorrow morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weather was 2\/3rds kind, and when it was kind it was very, very kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The dogs absolutely *loved* it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the humans didn’t do too badly out of it either.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We walked many miles, we played outside badminton really badly, Sam went blackberrying and came back very well laden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All in all it was a very healthy experience, and fun too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re back home now; making plans, compiling lists, and thinking about what we are going to do differently for our next excursion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is definitely the start of a trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maybe not a very regular trend for all six of us, but for the two oldest humans and the spaniels, this could become a regular event.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
