They kept saying &#8216;The thing is&#8230;&#8217; It was OK for the first 20 minutes, but after that it got a bit&#8230; wearing. I don&#8217;t mind a bit of repetition in a conversation, especially when you are making a really important point about some incredibly fine piece of detail, but the thing is when you&#8217;re just starting to think about the thing I asked you to think about in an email I sent you last week which you very clearly haven&#8217;t read or maybe you have read it but haven&#8217;t been able to understand the five bulletpoints I asked you to consider in advance of today&#8217;s call then&#8230; well&#8230; the thing is&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The thing is, I&#8217;m not terribly certain that I want to do the job that you want me to do.
