A very long time ago (I think it was in 2008) I bought a piece of video and audio editing software called Sony Vegas Pro v10. Now time has passed and it will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone that Sony Vegas Pro v10 has been superseded about eleventy squillion times. Give or take a few. But I needed to cut a video this evening and to do it I wanted my old friend Sony Vegas Pro v10 because a) it’s an old tool I know how to use and b) I paid a licence for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So I googled Sony Vegas Pro v10 download and unsurprisingly the software company’s website made a half-hearted attempt to sell me the eleventy squillionth update which actually is a totally different package that, surprise surprise, does pretty much the same thing. Well yes, it would do. Because audio and video editing hasn’t actually changed too much, not even since 2008.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I batted away the invitation to buy the superdooper new product and there was the link to download the prized Sony Vegas Pro v10. I clicked it. It downloaded. I expanded the MSI. The software installed. The software configured itself for this laptop (the laptop it was previously installed on has gone to the great laptop graveyard in the sky). And then the software asked for the registration details as per my licence. So I provided them, because I keep a record of that kind of shizzle on the NAS. I clicked OK and the software popped up the familiar editing suite dashboard and that was it. All I had to do was create the project and Robert’s your Mother’s Brother. Which he wasn’t because my mother had no brothers but that’s a different story.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Software companies have it within their gift to make life very hard for us users. Even for us paid up licence-holding users. The people who make Sony Vegas Pro are to be congratulated for being excellent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
