Last night’s rehearsed play reading in Newark was an interesting experience. The play was a three-handed affair called Honestly<\/a>. It was presented by Dogwood Productions<\/a>, a Community Interest Company. Dogwood Productions invest all their profits into creating new productions, working with communities and supporting emerging artists – noble, good, and worthwhile causes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoyed the concept of Honestly. The protag had a less than casual relationship with ‘truth’ to the point where the character was borderline schizoid with multiple personality disorder. The actor playing the protag performed nicely and carried off some good accents when required. The 2nd actor also did well, as did the 3rd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I enjoyed the reading. The play was well performed by 3 competent actors. The play itself was an interesting concept though the script called out for some editing and a little tidying-up. And though the 3 actors performed admirably, the 2nd character was miscast – or needs to present as a much older person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But make no mistake – I’d pay money to go and see this production. I’m going to spend some time on Dogwood Productions website to see what else they’re up to.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
