It was a simple task which took a long time. It took a long time because I had to copy all the content from the old SD Card (128Gb capacity – and yes, it was full) onto the NAS. Then pop the old SD Card out, insert the new one, and copy everything onto the new SD Card.

In the great scheme of things, 128Gb isn’t a massive amount of data, but the processing power of my phone was taxed to the maximum by having to push all those files off, through the laptop connection, and onto the NAS.

The trip from the NAS onto the new SD Card was a lot quicker, obviously. And now my phone’s storage capacity has been doubled. It was a lovely little exercise in data migration. There may have been a simpler way to get the job done, but as well as using the robustness of the NAS, I took the opportunity to create a duplicate bank of data on the NAS at the same time. Just in case the SD Card should suffer any future damage.

I’ve just upgraded (doubled) the storage capacity of the SD Card in my phone.
