Well, here we are. Friday the 13th (catchy title for a film or several, yes?).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I’m not really superstitious (Morning Mr Magpie, how’s the wife and kids?<\/em>). And Friday the 13th is just a normal day for me (flicks spilled salt over shoulder and removes shoes from the table<\/em>). The dogs and I are snoozing in front of the log fire (so what if it’s not yet 10.00? Don’t judge me).<\/p>\n\n\n\n There used to be a bizarre superstition in childhood Wales which somehow linked seeing an ambulance and black sheep and having to hold your collar until one or the other had been seen. I can’t really remember the whole thing but it didn’t trouble me because I had to walk through a flock of sheep to get home from the bus stop, and that mile-long walk involved trogging through a flock of sheep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And I never walk under ladders because that’s not superstitious, that’s just common sense. You never know who is working up top or what their Health and Safety observations are like! Also, not crossing on the stairs is just sensible really. And we never have peacock feathers in the house because we don’t have peacocks in the garden anymore. Find a penny and pick it up and all day long you’ll have a penny. Well, that’s just logical. And never light three cigarettes from a match is redundant now because a) hardly anyone smokes and b) there’s a distinct lack of WW1 snipers around these days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Anyway, I’m going to carry on researching superstitions because I want to invent one for my fantasy project.
