After the explosion in microblogging which laid a lot of the millions of bloggers to rest, blogging is once again making a comeback. But all is not well in the new land of blogging, it appears. The trendy thing is to have a blog on ‘Substack’. It’s easy to set up, the bloggers can (if they wish) monetise their content and that enables Substack to take a cut for their costs, and everything’s just fine and dandy. Except it isn’t. Substack, it transpires, isn’t choosy. Racists, sexists, misogynists, fascists, Substack welcomes them all.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Freedom of speech is one thing, but using a platform which not only allows views like that, but actually takes a cut from the promoters of such content? Well, that’s something else, and it’s something I am unable to support. I have instituted a block on my social media. Anything with the word ‘Substack’ in it gets automatically binned before it gets to my eyes; it doesn’t matter who the blogger is, I just don’t see their words any longer.
