(for reasons not entirely understood, the temptation to write this in the Private Secret Diary style of Jonny B, aka the absolute genius who is Alex Marsh, is incredibly strong but I shall try to resist)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We have been ‘up north’ for the week. The weather in that Scotland held marvellously; the walks in the forest were just brilliant and the dogs behaved themselves wonderfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For me there was a lot of walking, a lot of reading, early nights (and early mornings because the canines needed to, ahem, ‘stretch their legs’), and some extreme relaxing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also played cards though even those I suspect may have been cheating didn’t beat me!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We took part in a quiz and I’m pleased to report ‘The Specials’ absolutely romped home, coming first by a significant margin thanks, in no small part, to our pictorial knowledge of dogs, and a full house in the music round (a knowledge of obscure indie Scottish bands helped as did an embarrassing knowledge of the works of Craig David!). Don’t look at the scores for the sports round though, eh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’ve noticed, since being back down in the south, the 4 dogs we took* have a pleasantly faint odour of pine about them. Most of us agree that’s very nice (and in Chewie’s case, a most pleasant change). Chewie enjoyed perusing the menu!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A stay at Glentress Forest isn’t the cheapest of holidays in the world, but I think it ticked all the right R&R boxes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*For a variety of valid reasons, Mikey remained in the village with a friend who does dog boarding. She’s been full of praise for him and his behaviour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
