On Saturday Vinnie and I took part in a sponsored ride in the very beautiful Wyre Forest.<\/p>\n
I packed his jumping saddle – I had been told there would be fences – but in the event there was nothing to jump, the ground being too wet and the fences wisely withdrawn.<\/p>\n
Not having fences to jump was one downside.<\/p>\n
Spending *hours* in my specially shortened (to jumping length) stirrup leathers was another downside.<\/p>\n
The ride was advertised as 10 miles.<\/p>\n
Bollocks!<\/p>\n
Much, much closer to 18 and possibly even 19 miles.<\/p>\n
So my calves are still protesting a little – but much, much less than they were screaming at me on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Spending three hours with my knees bent so far upwards that my heels were closer to my bum is one thing – spending three hours in that position on a moving horse is something completely different!<\/p>\n
So in the words of the prophet, I am still slightly…<\/p>\n
