{"id":4071,"date":"2010-11-09T12:55:17","date_gmt":"2010-11-09T12:55:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=4071"},"modified":"2013-11-29T00:01:56","modified_gmt":"2013-11-29T00:01:56","slug":"why-do-they-do-this","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=4071","title":{"rendered":"Why do they do this?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imogen_heap.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-4072\" title=\"imogen_heap\" alt=\"\" src=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imogen_heap-300x237.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"237\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/imogen_heap-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/imogen_heap.jpg 800w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Soph took me to the Oxford 02 last night; part of my birthday present, bless her.<\/p>\n<p>And as if that&#8217;s not enough, I was taken to see the uber-talented Imogen Heap.<\/p>\n<p>She was, frankly, outstanding; it was a masterclass in how to balance talent and technology in front of a live audience.<\/p>\n<p>My problem was with the live audience.<\/p>\n<p>Tell me something.<\/p>\n<p>Why would anyone go to see and listen to a live musical experience&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>AND THEN SHOUT AT YOUR MATES ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE SHOW<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>The five teenagers who clustered in front of us did this.<\/p>\n<p>So we moved to a quieter spot.<\/p>\n<p>Except the four adults in their mid-30s who we were standing behind started a conversation.<\/p>\n<p>And when I say &#8216;started a conversation&#8217;, I obviously mean&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>THEY SHOUTED OVER THE MUSIC AND DROWNED OUT THE SINGING.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>Why would anyone pay the best part of \u00a350 per person to stand in front of a world class musical talent, just to have a <strong>VERY LOUD<\/strong> conversation with their mates?<\/p>\n<p>And spoil the listening experience for everyone within an 8-metre radius?<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n<p>What is it with these people that they are so ignorant of everyone else at the gig?<\/p>\n<p>And so ignorant of &#8211; and rude towards &#8211; the artists onstage?<\/p>\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Soph took me to the Oxford 02 last night; part of my birthday present, bless her.
