On the train this morning I read the outcomes from the annual NME (New Musical Express) awards and there are some interesting outcomes to agree\/disagree with (but bear in mind the NME is a British music paper):<\/p>\n
Best British Band:
\nArctic Monkeys (Yeah, I’ll go with that – over the last year no-one else has produced enough of the goods to earn that title)<\/p>\n
Best International Band:
\nThe Killers (Could it have been anyone else?)<\/p>\n
Best New Band:
\nThe Enemy (Of course is is!)<\/p>\n
Best Live Band:
\nMuse (Another ‘Of course!’ – it really couldn’t be anyone else)<\/p>\n
Best Solo Artist:
\nKate Nash (Hmmm… not Mika?)<\/p>\n
Best Album:
\n‘Myths of the Near Future’ – Klaxons (Haven’t heard it so no comment)<\/p>\n
Best Track:
\n‘Flourescent Adolescent’ – Arctic Monkeys (Strongly disagree – surely there have been better album tracks released by British artists during the last year?)<\/p>\n
Best Video:
\n‘Teddy Picker’ – Arctic Monkeys (Haven’t seen it so no comment)<\/p>\n
Best Live Event:
\nCarling Weekend: Reading And Leeds Festival (Haven’t been so no comment)<\/p>\n
Worst Album:
\n‘Blackout – Britney Spears (No, no, no, no, no! Surely it’s the album from the next group?)<\/p>\n
Worst Band:
\nThe Hoosiers (Completely agree, it really couldn’t be anyone else could it?)<\/p>\n
Hero Of The Year:
\nPete Doherty (They couldn’t be more wrong if they tried)<\/p>\n
Villain Of The Year:
\nGeorge W Bush (They couldn’t be more right if they tried)<\/p>\n
Best Band Blog:
