It’s 22.55 and that’s how long I’ve been asleep – 15 hours or 15 minutes.<\/p>\n
We came to bed, the lovely S and I, to watch a film – Donnie Darko.<\/p>\n
She loves it.<\/p>\n
It’s good but, you know, not a classic.<\/p>\n
But not bad – he said quickly, in an effort to remain on speaking terms with this lovely woman.<\/p>\n
And with the film watched, the television and DVD were switched off; she fought me for access to some small part of the bed and lost.<\/p>\n
But eventually I acquiesced and granted her access.<\/p>\n
The light went off, we spooned.<\/p>\n
I slept; longly deeply but lightly.<\/p>\n
And was disturbed in my sleep when she got up.<\/p>\n
After a few moments I followed her downstairs, she was making a cup of tea.<\/p>\n
The clock said I had been asleep less than half an hour but I feel rested and not the least bit tired – a real power-nap was had.<\/p>\n
And now, 22.58, we’re both in bed, laptops whirring gently, mugs of tea on the bedside tables.<\/p>\n
The lovely S’s curiosity about the soundtrack to Donnie Darko and other films satisfied via quick visits to the iTunes store.<\/p>\n
And I wonder if I’ll be able to go back to sleep tonight.<\/p>\n
