A couple of miles outside Gloucester along the A417 (also called The Cotswold Way – it’s a modern-day road that follows the line of an ancient Roman road) the road climbs up a long, steep hill to a very large roundabout.<\/p>\n
The roundabout is called The Air Balloon and it’s the junction between the A417 Cotswold Way and the A436 Stow-on-the-Wold road.<\/p>\n
And it’s a busy junction.<\/p>\n

Fucking arrogant ignorant stupid bastard road terrorists<\/strike> Some HGV drivers are so totally fucking inconsiderate<\/strike> lack sufficient consideration and deliberately<\/strike> accidentally position themselves on the Air Balloon roundabout in such a way that they block both lanes as they attempt to speed (yes, I really do mean ‘speed’!!) around it.<\/p>\n
They try to speed around it because the next mile of the A417 is another long, steep and (for the fucking arrogant ignorant stupid bastard road terrorists<\/strike> lorry drivers) is a long slow crawl up the incline.<\/p>\n
That’s why they speed.<\/p>\n
They’re trying to get up the hill before their lorries run out of impulsion and they have to drop down to 1st gear – which on most lorries – (mine included) is just a crawler gear.<\/p>\n
Now I know you might read this post and think ‘Oh, it’s just him having yet another rant at fucking arrogant ignorant stupid bastard road terrorists<\/strike> lorry drivers’.<\/p>\n
Again.<\/p>\n
But I’m not.<\/p>\n
This evening I have evidence that the fucking arrogant ignorant stupid bastard road terrorists<\/strike> lorry drivers (or one of them at least) are racing around the Air Balloon roundabout on the A417 in an attempt to climb – speedily – the rest of the hill up the A417 on to the Cotswolds.<\/p>\n
