Today has been a stupidly busy day and, as a consequence, my head is so wound up, it will not let me sleep.<\/p>\n
Here are just some of the highlights.<\/p>\n
My ‘get out of bed now’ alarm went off at 5am. I was showered, shaved, teethed, dressed, breakfasted and out of the house by 6.15.<\/p>\n
I took a late lunch at 3-ish, and at 5pm was back home.<\/p>\n
I was in the shower at 5.15 when Soph arrived for a chat.<\/p>\n
She left at 6.40, and at 6.50 I was in Sainsbury’s, scything my way through dawdling shoppers like a guided weapon of mass destruction.<\/p>\n
I was back home by 7.40 with, worryingly, enough food to feed an actual army.<\/p>\n
I cooked, ate, washed-up and made a longish phone-call.<\/p>\n
Then I unloaded and hung out the contents of the washing machine.<\/p>\n
And put a second load in.<\/p>\n
Then I vacuumed the house.<\/p>\n
Then I did work stuff.<\/p>\n
At 10.30pm I took another break, and used the time to make – and drink – a hot chocolate.<\/p>\n
I also unloaded and hung out the contents of the washing machine. Again.<\/p>\n
And put a third load in.<\/p>\n
It is now half-past midnight.<\/p>\n
I put away the last of my paperwork and switched the work laptop off at midnight.<\/p>\n
I’ve just changed the bed.<\/p>\n
My alarm is set for 5.15am, at which point it begins all over again.<\/p>\n
I was talking to a friend, earlier, via GChat.<\/p>\n
‘How do you fill your time these days?’, she asked.<\/p>\n
‘Oh, this and that’, was my evasive reply.<\/p>\n
This, and indeed, that.<\/p>\n
I’m desperately tired but my brain won’t spin down.<\/p>\n
I have a\u00a0house-guest\u00a0arriving tomorrow evening.<\/p>\n
If she’s lucky I’ll stay lucid enough to support conversation.<\/p>\n
If she’s unlucky I’ll fall asleep on the couch as she’s unpacking.<\/p>\n
It’s a bit of a lottery really.<\/p>\n
