On that last point. SQL-Server’s operating overhead has really come down in the current release. I’m running an instance of MySQL and SQL-Server and there’s little to choose between the two at the moment.

Anyway.

This morning I ran a BI report for the first full month of audited file and server activity for the podcast.

Last month the podcast averaged 32,213 weekly downloads – or 32,213 downloads per episode if you prefer.

Unfortunately, because of the way iTunes manages their RSS syndication and their pecular UID methodology, I can’t determine how many iTunes ‘listens’ occur, so the statistic above excludes iTunes activity.

The top countries by IP locator (so a slight pinch of salt please when reading these numbers) shows the national breakdown of non-iTunes listens as:

Ranking

Country

1

United States

2

United Kingdom

3

Spain

4

Germany

5

Canada

6

Mexico

7

France

8

Netherlands

9

New Zealand

10

Venezuela

11

Argentina

12

Honduras

13

Japan

14

Italy

15

India

16

Hong Kong

17

Greece

18

Colombia

19

China

20

Belgium

That’s over 48% of listeners in the US alone and that, my friends, is very interesting.
