Beating up my little pony!<\/em><\/p>\n

An equine in the same turnout as lovely Vin is beating him up.<\/p>\n

Let’s be clear on a couple of basics. I know that boys will be boys (tsk!) and that horses play boisterously and – in all honesty – that Vin probably isn’t quite the innocent bystander in all of this that his dad (that would be me) likes to think he is.<\/p>\n

But on Saturday morning when I got Vin in and groomed him, he had two nasty bites – one on his NS upper ribcage and the other on his OS hip.<\/p>\n

And when I rode him in the arena he was a fraction unlevel. That’s borderline lame to most folk.<\/p>\n

Bear in mind that the surface in the arena is a combination of sand\/rubber and therefore isn’t exactly the most testing of surfaces, it still tested out a lameness.<\/p>\n

Sigh.<\/p>\n

Horses will, unfortunately, be horses. And they do play big bad rough tough games. And they do have a pecking order in the herd and I know the pecking order dictates their ‘social’ hierarchy.<\/p>\n

I just wish they’d treat each other with a little more care. I don’t want any of them to get hurt.<\/p>\n

Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh!<\/p>\n

This problem will go away at Vin’s new home, they have sufficient land for individual turnout in large paddocks.<\/p>\n

But no matter that his new home comes with the longest list of facilities I’ve ever experienced in one yard before, I will be upset to take him away from his current home; it is a lovely place, very quiet and peaceful and devoid of children (as is his new home, thankfully!).<\/p>\n

I just hope he won’t be too upset; he has his friend – his ‘best friend’ – and he’s very keen to become more friendly with one of the mares. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Boys.<\/p>\n

Tsk.<\/p>\n
