not that I had too much religion to lose in the first place…<\/em><\/p>\n

The thing with technology is that it will always fail just when you want it. At the precise moment you need it most – it won’t be there. This is, I believe some universal law – the precise name of which escapes me for the moment.<\/p>\n

This morning I had<\/strong> to move a large sum of money from my bank account to our joint account. I then had to move the same amount of money outwards to a recipient already set up in the ‘Bill Payments’ facility.<\/p>\n

Guess what?<\/p>\n

Nationwide’s internet facility?<\/p>\n

The words ‘Tits’ and ‘Up’ apply.<\/p>\n

So I had to leave the office, jog down the road and stand in line for ages to see a cashier who was able to do exactly what I’ve been trying to do since 10.00.<\/p>\n

But let’s be clear about a couple of things.<\/p>\n

I have absolutely no beef with Nationwide. They\u00c2\u00a0provide a service that meets my expectations on every level and doesn’t cost me various body parts. In fact -\u00c2\u00a0by and large -\u00c2\u00a0they pay me for using their services.<\/p>\n

I also have no issues with the availability of Nationwide’s website. Since I started using it 147 years ago (whatever) I have never experienced a denial of service; it’s always been there, it has always performed the functions I wanted it to.<\/p>\n

Until today.<\/p>\n

Until this morning when, as I may have mentioned already,\u00c2\u00a0I absolutely had<\/strong> to move a large sum of money from account A to account B and then out to the named (and pre-defined) recipient.<\/p>\n

When you take look at Nationwide’s webservice and what it’s done for me, it’s\u00c2\u00a0pretty good uptime really.<\/p>\n

Except for today.<\/p>\n

But good uptime or not… I’m still going to grumble.<\/p>\n

But if having to get up from my desk, jog down the road and stand in line listening to my iPod for half an hour is the most stressful thing I have to do today…<\/p>\n

I’m not really doing too bad, am I?<\/p>\n

Still going to grumble about it though. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
