And anyway, who has set up <a title=\"A Horse for One Bin website\" href=\"http:\/\/ahorseforonebin.co.uk\" target=\"_blank\">this Horse for One Bin website?<\/a><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s 12.14. Yay! I&#8217;m taking a break from a day that started work at 08.00. I sip my tea and stare at my Sainsbury&#8217;s sandwich and my attention drags itself to the fact that my phone&#8217;s been very quiet today.<\/p>\n<p>I check it.<\/p>\n<p>Off.<\/p>\n<p>Bum.<\/p>\n<p>I switch it on.<\/p>\n<p>Six missed calls and four voicemails.<\/p>\n<p>Double bum.<\/p>\n<p>A nibble at my cheese and pickle is accompanied by a flick over to BBC News where the following stellar items catch my eye.<\/p>\n<p>* Honda is to pull out of F1 with immediate effect. Hands up everyone surprised. Yeah, not too many. Although the accompanying decision to stop supplying F1 engines blindsided me.<\/p>\n<p>* Wogan is to give up commentating on the Eurovision Farce Competition. And is to be replaced by Graham Norton. So that&#8217;s the BBC firmly orientating the spectacle away from a song competition and marketing it wholly as a celebration of &#8216;camp&#8217; then.<\/p>\n<p>* Peter Hain MP is not to be charged over breaking the law on donations. Of course not.<\/p>\n<p>* The Bank of England interest rate of 1% is being passed on to the consumers as a 0.25% cut. Nice. I wouldn&#8217;t mind those margins.<\/p>\n<p>* The 50th Anniversary of the advent of the British Motorway is being marked by a special coning-off of the M5, M6, M42, M1 (<em>etc, ad nauseam<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>* Boy George faces a jail sentence for imprisonment. Hang on. A gay man guilty of imprisonment and then locked up in a confined space with a bunch of men? Oh the irony!<\/p>\n<p>* A female seeking a sperm donor only wants semen from an Oxbridge graduate. Good grief madam. I&#8217;ve worked with graduates from Oxbridge who would be hard pressed to find both ends of a piece of string but could sort out a really decent bottle of <em>Sauternes<\/em> if required! But perhaps that&#8217;s what she wants. Hmmm&#8230; A misplaced sense of pride makes me want to ask what&#8217;s wrong with graduates of Bath.<\/p>\n<p>Ah well. A cup of tea and sandwich. How my cup runneth over. But not in a literal sense because that would be spillage.
