I’ve had a love\/hate relationship with Brit indie artists Guillemots (sometimes written as gUiLLeMoTs),\u00a0for half a dozen years.<\/p>\n

Flyte Dangerfield’s voice (what a name!) has extraordinary qualities. He can project dreamy, hypnotic melodies time after time, no matter what quality of work he’s performing.<\/p>\n

And there, for me, is the rub.<\/p>\n

Over the years some of the band’s work has been – to my ears – problematic.<\/p>\n

However I have fallen in love.<\/p>\n

While having a trawl through my music library recently, I came across the stunning track ‘If The World Ends’, from the Guillemots’ debut album ‘Through The Windowpane’.<\/p>\n

I’d forgotten just how good this track is.<\/p>\n

The way the lilting tempo slowly lifts the melody, and Flyte’s voice, to an emotional peak had, inexplicably, slipped out of my head.<\/p>\n

I have listened to If The World Ends eight times today.<\/p>\n

I am in love with it.<\/p>\n

It is beautiful.<\/p>\n

I don’t care what anyone else thinks.<\/p>\n

This is beautiful.<\/p>\n

A painfully slow start.<\/p>\n

A wave of emotion to finish.<\/p>\n

And I love it.<\/p>\n

I’ll put the lyrics below the video, because they are a story in themselves.<\/p>\n
