Many people are apparently labouring under the misapprehension \u00e2\u20ac\u201c because of a generous certification – that Shrek The Third is a children’s film.<\/p>\n
It isn’t.<\/p>\n
What child would get the soundtrack and the way it was used (Do You Remember Rock n’ Roll<\/em> by The Ramones, Led Zeppelin’s Immigrant Song<\/em>, the beautifully sardonic use of Live and Let Die<\/em> – so ironically sung by a chorus of frogs –\u00a0 the Wings version of course, not Guns n’ Roses, or Damien Rice’s Nine Crimes<\/em>)?<\/p>\n What child would get the deliciously pervy exchanges (the one between Prince Charming and Rapunzel is a great example)?<\/p>\n What child would get the cinematic references (Singin’ in the Rain<\/em>, The Sound of Music<\/em> – beautifully done by Julie Andrews!, Midnight Cowboy<\/em>, Monty Python & The Holy Grail<\/em> – or was it Spamalot<\/em>? – A Chorus Line<\/em> and The Truman Show<\/em>… oh yeah, and Rosemary’s Baby\/The Exorcist<\/em>)?<\/p>\n The story’s a little weak in places but it’s still an enjoyable romp.<\/p>\n If you can think of a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon (out of the bedroom), do it.<\/p>\n But Shrek The Third is a fun, entertaining way to pass time in the company of someone you love.<\/p>\n Brennig<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Many people are apparently labouring under the misapprehension \u00e2\u20ac\u201c because of a generous certification – that Shrek The Third is a children’s film.
