{"id":8712,"date":"2013-02-07T10:37:25","date_gmt":"2013-02-07T10:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=8712"},"modified":"2015-01-28T14:29:07","modified_gmt":"2015-01-28T14:29:07","slug":"simon-blogathon-728","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=8712","title":{"rendered":"Blogathon 7\/13 Simon!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Although I&#8217;m fairly handy with a set of tools and I am capable of handling most jobs (with the aid of a good set of documentation), I do prefer to leave some things to the specialists.<\/p>\n<p>Maintaining the Bandit is one of those tasks.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Banons\" href=\"http:\/\/bannons.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\">Banons Motorcycle Service<\/a> is the mobile motorcycle mechanic I have been using.<\/p>\n<p>When I bought the Bandit, I wanted the bike to have a complete workover.<\/p>\n<p>Simon took the motorbike away and over the course of a week he did a full strip-down and service.<\/p>\n<p>He found a few things that needed urgent attention, and a couple of longer-term niggles that needed looking at, at some stage within the next twelve months.<\/p>\n<p>And he sent me photos.<\/p>\n<p>A week-and-a-half later, Simon delivered the Bandit back to me.<\/p>\n<p>We shared a mug of coffee and a gossip.<\/p>\n<p>We went through the photos of what he found, and Simon gave me a much more detailed explanation of what he had to do to (including cutting an incorrectly-sized nut off the rear spindle).<\/p>\n<p>Later I hopped on the motorcycle and took it out for a brief run around time.<\/p>\n<p>The Bandit felt even more brilliant; somehow the balance of the bike had been improved; handling was tighter and both the &#8216;go faster&#8217; and &#8216;stop now&#8217; responses were breathtaking.<\/p>\n<p>A few days ago Simon came out to take care of a couple of the longer-term niggles, then I popped the Bandit round to the tyre specialist for a new set of tyres.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?attachment_id=8713\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-8713\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8713\" src=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/\/Bandit_reshod-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"Bandit_reshod\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bandit_reshod-300x224.jpg 300w, https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/Bandit_reshod.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>You may not know it, but new tyres, on a motorcycle, should be &#8216;run-in&#8217; for a hundred miles.<\/p>\n<p>This means no sharp cornering, no rapid acceleration, and *cough* keeping within the speed limit.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With limitations like that, it&#8217;s going to be a dull hundred miles.<\/p>\n<p>But it&#8217;s going to be fun afterwards<br \/>\n\ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Although I&#8217;m fairly handy with a set of tools and I am capable of handling most jobs (with the aid of a good set of<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":13,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-8712","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-stuff","two-columns"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8712","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/13"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=8712"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/8712\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=8712"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=8712"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=8712"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
