{"id":9625,"date":"2013-10-04T20:38:00","date_gmt":"2013-10-04T19:38:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=9625"},"modified":"2013-10-04T20:40:26","modified_gmt":"2013-10-04T19:40:26","slug":"any-port-forwarding-in-a-storm","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/?p=9625","title":{"rendered":"Any port (forwarding) in a storm"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a frustrating little niggle.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m having to use a downgraded router (due to not having FTC, as previously moaned about).<\/p>\n<p>To allow internet traffic to access any of the servers running on my LAN, I have to configure port forwarding on the above mentioned router.<\/p>\n<p>In my last (FTC) house, I configured port forwarding through a nifty little utility that is installed on my NAS.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to faff (technical word, there) with using the same utility to configure port forwarding, because the law of sod clearly dictates that whatever I do now, it will over-write port forwarding rules that I have previously configured for my FTC router.<\/p>\n<p>And I don&#8217;t want to do that, because if Openreach (hey, I did say *if*) stick to their updated delivery, and have FTC installed here, by the middle of the month, then I plan on switching over to the previously configured router and hey presto, Robert&#8217;s your mother&#8217;s brother!<\/p>\n<p>So I&#8217;ve had a bash at manually configuring port forwarding the Plusnet Technicolor (sic) Gateway.<\/p>\n<p>And hit a wall.<\/p>\n<p>No matter how much time I spend in the config menu\/sub-menus, no matter which changes I make (then unmake, obv), I can&#8217;t get port forwarding fully enabled\/configured.<\/p>\n<p>Everytime I think I&#8217;ve done it correctly, I put the uri in the browser and&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-9626\" alt=\"gateway\" src=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/\/gateway.jpg\" width=\"800\" height=\"319\" srcset=\"https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/gateway.jpg 800w, https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/gateway-300x119.jpg 300w, https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/gateway-250x99.jpg 250w, https:\/\/brennigjones.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/gateway-150x59.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I have no idea how to bypass this &#8211; the IP traffic should go straight to the domain I&#8217;m using as a test-site for all this experimenting &#8211; experiment.co.uk (except it isn&#8217;t that one, obv).<\/p>\n<p>But it doesn&#8217;t, clearly, traffic is being routed to experiment.co.uk\/login.lp<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t want to spend too much time on it.<\/p>\n<p>If the word of Openreach is good (sceptical face) I&#8217;m only going to have to endure the current setup for two more weeks.<\/p>\n<p>But how frustrating, to get so near, and yet, so far.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here&#8217;s a frustrating little niggle.
