The purpose of the election on 1st May is to choose councillors for Nottinghamshire County Council. It is a local election. No matter what views anyone has on such big ticket items as immigration, trade with the EU, the Trump administration or anything else on the global stage, the 1st May election will not have any bearing on these things. None of them.

The Nottinghamshire County Council election is about local issues: budgets, cuts, services and, fundamentally, local people. You and me. It is about every single local issue, it’s about the stuff happening around us every single day. So let’s see a few of the kinds of things the local election on 1st May is really about:

  • Education
  • Environment
  • Housing (especially affordable and social housing)
  • Roads and Pavements
  • Social Services (including care of the elderly)
  • Public Transport

Are there things you would like to see on this list (such as, for example, the proposed development of Tollerton Airfield)?

If there are things you want to tell me about, please feel free to drop me a line and tell me about them.
