The best start to a dressage life

The URI below points at a YouTube-type clip on a German website. The clip is 57 seconds long and there’s no audio.

If you view it you’re going to see the six-year-old daughter of Ingrid Klimke (big BIG time dressage star) riding her mother’s dressage schoolmaster.

Bareback.

I’ll say the salient points again.

Six years old. No saddle.

And if that’s not enough…

The eagle-eyed cognoscenti will notice that the horse performs and repeats a sequence of one-time tempi changes which is very advanced, high-school dressage movement.

Just ask anyone who rides.

So that’s:
* Six years old
* Bareback
* One-time tempi changes
* Repeated

Beeeatch!

(here’s the link)

For the record, I think the schoolmaster is doing most of the pupil’s work as well as all of his own. But she’s six years old and riding tempi changes bareback FFS!

Beeeeatch!

  1. I bet the German selectors are rubbing their hands together already. How old does she have to be before she can compete at junior international level??

  2. Caroline; JI level? I want to say ten but I don’t know for sure. However if there’s any justice in the equine world she’ll get to puberty, discover boys and go off horses for life. However if she doesn’t get diverted and carries on, it could end up like the equestrian equivalent of Torvill and Dean – she’d probably get 10s just for turning up. Beeeeatch!

    Soupy; It’s high school stuff. Just mark me down as Mr Jealous from Jealoustown, Jealoushire. 🙂

  3. I think I’m starting to understand why in Dick Francis’ novels the best jockeys are always the ones who started riding horses before they even walked… I don’t know shit about horse riding but the kid looks impressive.

  4. Citronella; yeah, there’s class there it has to be (grudgingly) said.

    Susie; Wow indeed.

    Suzeekinz; As if I’d do porn! 🙂

    Merry; the one-word thing was just for January. And sigh indeed.
