Blogathon 07/21: Pulling the plug

I haven’t wanted to do this because I’ve been clinging on to the past, and yet this is completely the right decision; it’s time to close the door on this chapter of my musical life.

On 29th June 2021 the website, RSS and iTunes feeds, and all audio for This Reality Podcast will disappear from the Internet.

In the years that I produced, engineered, went to very many gigs, selected music for and presented the show I learned a tremendous amount about constantly improving audio quality and reaching for high production values.

  1. It’s a shame, but things move on, I suppose.
I used to listen to This Reality on the train when I was working in that London and I always enjoyed it. The music was good and the banter was always amusing.
    RIP This Reality

  2. Well, at least you figured out how to pronounce Anemo. Eventually. ๐Ÿ˜€

Seriously though, every so often I have a clear out of my podcast subs and I still havenโ€™t been able to bring myself to remove it.

I have added artists to my music library that I only discovered through TRP. Artists that I now adore. And who could forget the quirky Danny Rhymez and Matty B, or the sad disbanding of Razorbax?

    Farewell. Fare thee very well.

    1. Aye, it was a time of discovery for us both Allister. I’ll keep the audio files though, frankly, I don’t know why. Learning to pronounce Anemo correctly was a great gift from you – but you scoring that interview was brilliant!

      1. Methinks you misremember. At least I couldn’t remember, so I looked up the email. There were two clips which sound very much like blurbs from Ariel’s CyberPR whom I used to use for some material. I have likewise kept all the SDP (and related) files. I’ve popped them into a long term cloud archive even.

  3. It will be much missed, but I suspect also represents an older chapter of your life. I always enjoyed listening, back in the day when we were almost neighbours!
