Our energy provider has recently taken to strafing me with regular texts and emails imploring me to make an appointment to get a Smart meter fitted. Well this jury is out on the development.
There have been various tales of Smart metering not going very well for various punters. The installation and all that stuff has been fine, but the bill production seems to have been, in some instances, problematic.
I’m normally keen to adopt new tech, but some of the cases dealing with the issues arising from Smart metering I’ve been reading about, have had to be taken up by consumer champions and financial watchdogs to get to a state of resolution.
This, obviously, doesn’t leave me feeling warm and fluffy. So for now, I’m going to pass. I think that’s the Smart thing to do.
Have to say, my switch to a Smart meter was pretty painless.
I am having issues now, but it’s not down to the meter.
Maybe the meter is smarter than the staff.
Has switching altered your energy bills (in either direction)?
