Yesterday was VD or Valentine’s Day if you prefer. Saint Valentine is the patron saint of epileptics, beekeepers, and Clinton’s cards. And probably Moonpig, for that matter.
We don’t really ‘do’ occasions. I might receive a card on my Heartattackaversary (Not Deadaversary, if you prefer). And she’ll tell me that we will keep our Christmas spending moderate and I’ll agree and we both ignore.
But neither of us needs ‘a day’ to throw tokens of our affection at each other. It’s just not necessary.
Hear hear!
But, maybe it’s an age thing, with us old ‘uns.
SWMBO is far from old
Masher, I think you’ve almost nailed it. It’s not age, but wisdom. The wife and I haven’t bothered with VD for many years, initially spurred by the injustice of massive price hikes in flower prices. “Oh, but the demand, you see!” Ah, yes, but you know *exactly* when it will happen! But most of all, showing love is not something that should be done to a timetable, or under any kind of pressure. Those flowers or chocolates will be appreciated all the more if unexpected.
I’m all for the unexpected appreciation
I’ve been expecting some unexpected appreciation for a while now.
