Last Friday evening I spent an entertaining five hours in the local A&E department.
Just before midnight I saw a triage nurse who said ‘stitches’. I was pointed in the direction of a theatre nurse who chatted to me about various things, whilst happily stitching me up (in a medical kind of way).
Anyway, yesterday evening, just a week after they were put in, I went to the local health centre and a nice nurse (Emma) removed the stitches. As she worked she asked about how my injury occurred.
‘I jumped into a brook to rescue a dog that was stuck in the mud. When I had hoiked the dog out and up onto the bank of the brook, 2m above, I had to pull myself up the sheer bank on branches. And that’s how I did this.’

Yowzer!
I was not prepared for that picture!
Ouch and double ouch!
Aye, it were a bit of a mess and painful to boot. Too painful to boot, in fact
