This weekend I’m heading north from this corner of Oxfordshire to Liverpool. Woo!
The plan is that I’m going to meet LizSara and Miss Smidge and Helen and maybe an SO or two.
I feel slightly ashamed to admit that I’ve never really been to Liverpool (even though it was the 2008 European Capital of Culcha Culture and all that, because flying many times to/from John Lennon Airport doesn’t count in the going to Liverpool stakes, does it?).
I don’t know what the cunning plan is, perhaps we’re all going to meet up on Saturday afternoon, have a coffee, a bit of a goss and then do our own thing(s). 🙂
But if our time in Liverpool allows us to sample something of the social scene, the sights, sounds and smells of the city, so much the better!
Ah, I see the progression! Not sure what I’ll do, though, if your next post title is “Love me do”. 😎
Have fun.
Oh, and bring me back a stick of rock.
Tara loove.
Despite Liverpool being my home town i’ve hardly ever spent any time there. I love the little visits i have had tho!. Id suggest you visit the catherdral, albert docks (and the 3 graces) Liverpool 1 – the new shopping centre and ermmm, maybe LizSara can help out with more. See you saturday 🙂
There is a city tour bus which goes around. Also wander around the Albert Dock. Maybe get on the duck bus thing (I think it goes on a small tour of the city – but I’ve never been on it so I’m not sure). Maritime Museum is good – as is the main Liverpool Museum. Matthew Street is worth a visit for obvious reasons.
Then, as Smidge says, there are 2 catherdrals if nothing else. There are ‘ghost walks’ from the Philharmonic Pub (inbetween the cathedrals) if that’s your thing.
Have fun and let’s us know what you think of it….I’ll probably bump into you when I go for a paper 😀
Cynical Scribble, hi and welcome. Thanks for the info. Our hotel is (appears to be) on the dock so that could be v.handy. A pub with live music might be nice. 🙂
ooh yes, lets go to philharmonic pub! I love that pub 🙂
Hi Brennig, apologies, I should’ve of introduced myself (been lurking for a while).
That’s one pub visit sorted, Smidge will take you the Phil. They have marble urinals in there too!
There’ll be a few places in and around Matthew. St on Saturday with live music at some point – depends what time you go out. As a fail safe, Flanagans in Matthew St. normally has some kind of live music on a Saturday night (although being an ‘irish’ bar it can be a bit grim at times). Follow your nose, you’ll find something you like!
Hope you all have a good time 🙂
