09.15, phone call from the yard.
‘You are not going to believe what your horse’ (I just knew that Sammi was talking about Tom) ‘has done.’
‘What?’
‘You know the field behind the lorry park?’
‘Yes.’
‘He’s just cleared it.’
‘But from the paddock side of the fence that’s 6′ tall!’
‘And then he trotted up to the 3’6″ post and rail’ (which is post and rail then a wall then post and rail on the other side) ‘and cleared it.’
‘That’s a 3’6″ on both sides with a 4′ spread.’
We’ve had a little conference at the yard and have come up with a plan to hopefully mitigate Tom’s jumping tendencies.
This evening, the third consecutive evening of schooling, I popped him around a 2’9″ course of showjumps in the outdoor arena.
He’s a joy to jump, shows the same attitude to work that I felt when I tried him out.
I love Vin to bits, but Tom is a breath of fresh air.
Oooooh, blue bubbles!
(No, I don’t have anything smarter to say. Was I required to?)
Nice blue bubbles, like it. Tom certainly sounds like fan of the jumping and a bit of a character. 2 horses, I’m most jealous…
I take it someone was riding him? I mean, he didn’t just clear it and gallop off? You still have him right?
KK, I thought of you, honest!
Vicola, feel free to mosey on down and try them out.
Soupy, nope, he did this by himself, all under his own steam. But he didn’t disappear, he stayed in the turnout paddocks.
Does he come with a parachute?
