The Witches were an Oxfordshire-based band of excellence. They produced intelligent lyrics that hinted at worlds of longing, depression, love and loneliness.
But the Witches told these stories through the medium of such delicate, intricately-woven melodies that they compelled you to listen.
And listen you did. Listen I did. And buy their work, I did.
Their debut CD ‘Heart of Stone’ is a collection of marvellously-produced music.
It nestles in my collection, surrounded by works of other artists such as The Beatles, Imogen Heap and Manic Street Preachers; names you will know.
The shame is that you are unlikely to ever know The Witches. Settle back in a quiet place and soak this up.
