Today is the 65th birthday of the National Health Service.
The NHS:
- helped deliver me. Not easy, given I had infected blood, even in my mother’s womb
- tried so hard to keep my father alive after his terrible accident
- treated 10yo me when I got hit by a car. I was in hospital for weeks
- delivered my daughter
- treated me, eleven years ago, when I had a catastrophic horse-fall
- has diagnosed and treated my minor ailments
- has been such a fundamental part of my life, that sometimes I haven’t noticed it
- is a brilliant institution
- deals with physical and mental health
I just want to say ‘thank you’.
To the NHS.
To the people who have worked for it.
To the people who do work for it.
To the people who will work for it.
Thank you.
Hear hear!
