If my landlord changes the letting agent that he chooses to work through, at the end of my tenancy, does this affect my statutory right to migrate my tenancy to a short-term, monthly rolled-over one?

No. The tenancy agreement remains between your friend and the landlord, the landlord is merely changing his representative.
