Drivers guide to bikers

I actually had, today, a motorist who tried to block me – a motorist who deliberately changed the direction of his car – to stop me from filtering down a line of stationary traffic at a roundabout.

I wanted to call him an ignorant twat.

I wanted to run the edge of my handlebars down his paintwork.

I did neither.

I just thought he was a selfish twat.

And probably an ignorant twat, who didn’t know that filtering down a line of traffic is a legal course of action.

This poster kind of says it all.

(apologies for the misplaced apostrophe – it’s not my poster)

  1. Driving in the almost stationary traffic that is the norm on the road between Newton Abbot and Torquay this morning, I several instances of the same thing. I also saw a van pull over to turn right, without indicating, and almost hit the motorcycle filtering up the middle of the road.
Bikes are popular around here and I’m pleased to say that most motorists heed the numerous signs about bikers that the council have placed on the sides of the road.
Even so, if you are on two wheels, you need your wits about you nowadays.
