I miss the cinema. The super large wall-to-wall, floor-to ceiling screen, the vibratingly powerful surround sound Dolby audio, the super comfortable reclining seats, the hideously overpriced drinks and snacks.
Cinema, as an experience, has come a long way since the Saturday morning showing at the Blaenavon Coliseum. Ah, how the memories of my youth come flooding back…
The smoke-laden atmosphere, the uncomfortable swing-up seats, the sticky carpet, the celluloid that kept breaking.

However, despite all this reminiscing the truth is that no matter how much I miss the flicks now, there would probably be nothing worth watching on at the moment.
As mentioned recently, the elder child is having us watch every Marvel film in chronological story order. The most recent film we have watched is Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I haven’t seen this one before. It’s a cracking film heavily laden with all of the special effects, explosions, fight scenes, flight scenes, car chases, gunfights, knife fights… This is a film I would have liked to have seen on a very big screen.
I really can’t wait for the cinemas to re-open, it’s quite possibly the only thing about lockdown, that I have really, really missed.
I shall stick to watching things on the TV so I don’t have to be sociable. Sociable isn’t always my thing.
I don’t think I go for the social aspect Dave; I go for the noise and lights 🙂
And the popcorn.
We get the popcorn at home 🙂
