RSS readers were introduced in 1999 (that’s 23 years ago at today’s prices).
My RSS reader burst into life the other day and told me that Anna is back, and it’s very good to see her with us once more.
The big three blogs at the height of the blogging age (and were on my daily reading list) were Anna’s Little Red Boat, Jonny B’s Private Secret Diary, and The Girl (I’ve picked on those three big blogging stars because I think I’ve met them all).
There was quite a blogging community in the good old bad old days. This one has been around since 2004 (19 years old next month).
I don’t think we’re about to see a blogging resurgence, but it would be good to see some of the old names back on the Internet.
A lot of blogs have gone by the wayside, over the years.
Most just slowly fade away but some just suddenly stop.
Kitchentable and Stratford Girl were two of my favourites, but the owners suddenly decided to make them private.
I’ve never seen the point of a private blog.
I miss Dr Annie too… can’t remember the name of her site, but she had a wonderful way of writing. Dunno what happened there: she was one of those that just suddenly stopped.
Even the prolific Scaryduck eventually faded away.
And Up The Works… whatever happened to Dave, I wonder?
Anyway, welcome back Anna.
OMG, you’re so right, quite a few have varnished like a piece of fine wood. I think SG made hers private just so it would always be there for her to reflect back to, without anyone else having access to it. I think. Annie is still around (on FB), and doing what she’s always done, over there. I do miss Jonny B’s writing. I’m going to have to dig out his book once more. As if I don’t have enough books to read!
